Southern Oregon Coast Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A 107-mile drive along the Southern Oregon Coast, with its magnificent beaches and forested hills. South of Coos Bay, the highway parallels Isthmus Slough for a few miles then cuts southwest over wooded hills to Bandon. Traversing flat and rolling hills, it moves inland through thick forest, flanks mountains and descends along magnificent shorelines to Gold Beach. Climbing Cape Sebastian’s western slopes, the scenery reaches its zenith in a series of state parks with spectacular views of deep ravines, offshore rocks, and inlets.
The south coast is the heart of myrtlewood country. At roadside shops and factories, you can watch craftsmen shape the distinctive hardwood, carving out dishes, jewelry, and figurines. Special attractions: Bandon waterfront and cheese factory, West Coast Game Park, Cape Blanco, prehistoric gardens, Battle Rock, Cape Sebastian, Rogue River, rugged coastline parks, storm and whale watching. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more."
