This trail is a well-maintained recreational trail that rambles through a dense, temperate rainforest. The view of the river from the cliffs in Copper Canyon is a memorable one. This ride is demanding and a technical challenge, with roots, rocks, scree slopes, steep climbs and descents, narrow cliff experiences, lots of small creek crossings, and scratchy, encroaching vegetation. After pedaling and pushing your bike for 12 miles, you must decide whether to return on the trail or loop back on paved and gravel roads. The roads make for a long day (42 miles), but probably less taxing than riding back on the trail. Any way you approach it, this is a tough ride. The trailhead is on the north side of the Rogue River, 16 miles east of Gold Beach.

Actually, a cautionary tale- did this ride years ago, tried to do the whole loop- late start led to near darkness on twisty agness rd. Bad plan. Lv early... or do out n bk. Going again this fall... more updates pending that ride :)
