North Umpqua Trail / Tioga Section

North Umpqua Trail / Tioga Section Professional Review and Guide

"This trail parallels the North Umpqua River for approximately 80 miles. This ride covers 15 miles of this single-track trail (the Tioga Section). The return to the trailhead is on OR 138. The ride requires good bike-handling skills.

The most challenging climb is a switchbacking ascent around Bob Butte, which you will encounter about three miles into the ride. Some of the trail's steeper sections are degraded and rocky. There may also be some windfalls blocking the single-track. The trip begins at the Swiftwater County Park, 6 miles east of Glide."

Great single track that runs along the North Umpua River. Terrific views and classic Redwood forest trail. One draw back is that parts of the trail do not seem well maintained. Lots of spots where large trees have fallen across the trail and have not yet been removed. Other parts of the trail are almost grown over with tall vegetation. All in all, a great ride.
