North Umpqua River: Idleyld Park to Winchester Professional Review and Guide
"This unheralded gem of a run moves through terrain transitioning from forested mountain canyon to hilly pastureland. Near sunset, the hills of scattered oak become a breathtaking masterpiece of shadow and gold. By June, the river is comfortably warm, yet mountain clear with plenty of flow, a rare treat for Oregon boaters. What is more, this run contains a fairly continuous offering of class 2 whitewater. All these factors combine to make this one of the premier whitewater runs of western Oregon for open canoers and a very enjoyable one for novice kayakers. Character: rolling hills."
