Fall Creek Falls

Fall Creek Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Lush, mossy canyon full of massive boulders (one of which you walk through) to a doubled-tiered waterfall. Option for a second, almost as spectacular, hike nearby.

For a short, easy, beautiful waterfall hike, Fall Creek Falls is tough to beat. The trailhead, easy to reach and open year-round, traverses a moss-draped canyon of house-size boulders and encounters an enchanted pool at the waterfall’s base before heading uphill to a viewpoint of the fall’s double tiers."

"If you’re a waterfall hunter on a time crunch, it can be difficult to pick and choose your way through the countless waterfalls in the Umpqua River area. Don’t skip this one. The trip to Fall Creek Falls can satisfy several cravings often possessed by hikers. There’s remarkable geology, eye-widening scenery, and, of course, a waterfall—a four-tiered, 120-foot waterfall at that. This trail to Fall Creek Falls takes hikers through some fascinating volcanic geology. And it doesn’t take long to do so. The hike starts by crossing a footbridge and shortly thereafter leads through a narrow bedrock crevice. Continue along the trail for 0.3 mile to a junction with the Job’s Garden Trail. Stay straight here, hiking along the main trail. Hike another 0.3 mile to the base of the falls. Along the way keep an eye out for stacks of columnar basalt." Read more

"Truly one of the megastars of southwest Washington, the list of superlatives that have been used to describe Falls Creek Falls is indeed a long one. It doesn’t matter that it’s not possible to see all 335 feet of the three-tiered monster at the same time. The size, power, and visual appeal of Falls Creek Falls are something to behold, whether you’re gazing at the top tier or the bottom two. Combine the fact that there are a number of good spots from which to sit and take in the falls with the easy-to-digest length of 3.2 total miles, and you have a classic day hike perfect for the family or to show off to out-of-towners."
