This is a run of rare isolation and beauty. Even at high levels, the water is crystal clear, like a river of bubbling champagne. Although the authors have run this stretch in as little as 1.5 hours at high water, it is best to start early and plan a long day. Hiking out after dark would take out all the fun. Many distinct drops, as well as a couple of small gorges, are found on this run, but the entire trip is less severe than the Middle and South Fork gorges and ranks between them and the stretches above them in terms of difficulty. Big (but generally friendly) hydraulics develop at high water. Character: wilderness; clear water.
