North Fork Siuslaw River Loop Professional Review and Guide
"This rigorous loop begins and ends with easygoing paved cycling along the North Fork of the Siuslaw River. A hike early in the ride will take you past trees that are over 500 years old. Back on your bike you take on an uncommonly steep stretch of gravel, a 1.6 mile quadricep tweaker called Elk Tie Road. The ridge line road climbs and descends many hills. The trip starts at 260' and reaches a high point of 1,280' in 5 miles. This is followed by ridge riding that adds about 700' of climbing to the loop. When you finally descend from the crest, you lose 800' in about 2 miles. Paved North Fork Road rolls by pastures, farms, and homes; it is the most heavily traveled road on the loop, but it is far from busy. This ride begins at the North Fork Siuslaw Campground, about 15 miles east of Florence."
