Salmon Creek is great for intermediate to advanced paddlers wanting to boat smaller volume runs. For less excitement, the mile-long class 4 to 5 gorge can be avoided by putting in at the NF 2408 bridge. The 3 to 4 miles of Salmon Creek above the gorge are a combination of shallow braided channels and more continuous stretches of class 2 to 3 whitewater, both of which contain a substantial amount of wood (logjams, partial blockages, sweepers); thus, running this upper section is not recommended. Character: forested.
