The Hash Brown Loop, which you will follow for this trip, is a great Sunday walk, something you could attempt after an early brunch that featured this loop’s namesake food item. On a good day, Potato Hill offers excellent views of central Oregon’s “smaller” volcanoes, such as Three Fingered Jack and Mount Washington. On a cloudy day you might choose to be as foolish as the author and wait around on Potato Hill’s summit for a good hour just to get a glimpse of Three Fingered Jack’s craggy summit ridge.
