The Olallie Lake Scenic Area is a gentle subalpine landscape full of lakes, meadows, and joyous campsites that is an ideal destination for families with children. Every lake is attractive, provides good fishing, and is a fun place for kids to splash in the water, swim, and explore. In July, the wildflowers are outstanding, but the mosquitoes will drive you to distraction, so plan to visit in either late August, when the huckleberries are ripe and the water temperature is more comfortable for swimming, or mid-October for solitude and superb fall color.
