Clackamas River: Three Lynx Power Station to North Fork Reservoir Professional Review and Guide
"This section of the Clackamas River is one of the most popular runs in Oregon. The beautiful canyon scenery, quality beginner–intermediate whitewater, and proximity to Portland entice boaters throughout the year. At high water levels, several of the rapids develop large waves and holes, while low water creates rocky, technical rapids followed by beautiful pools. All the major rapids can be scouted from the road. About 0.25 mile below the put-in is Powerhouse rapid.
This rapid can be quite challenging at some flows as the main current slams into the bank and splits. Aim for the large pool on the left as you crash through the waves in the center. For the next several miles, the river moves through many fun class 2 to 3 rapids, including The Narrows, where the river is squeezed between beautiful basalt walls. Around the corner from Sunstrip Campground is Roaring River rapid, a steep, rocky rapid that is generally run on the left. At low flows, the left wall at the bottom should be avoided because it is undercut and has sharp exposed rocks."
