From the trailhead at the side of U.S. Highway 26, hike the gentle grades of longabandoned roadbeds, through lush second-growth forest, to a primitive picnic site on the shore of Bloom Lake. Then use your route-finding skills for a short distance cross-country to complete your circumnavigation of the lake, and return along the gentle roadbeds to the Bloom Lake Trailhead. Because most of this hike is along abandoned roadbeds and you have only a short distance where you will be bumping into trailside brush that gets very wet when it rains, this is a good trip for a rainy day.
