Siltcoos Lake Trail

Siltcoos Lake Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"On a warm summer’s day, there’s nothing like hiking a couple of miles through deep coastal forest, then plunging into freshwater Siltcoos Lake, the largest lake on the Oregon coast. There are several campgrounds on the lakeshore, often occupied by boaters arriving by water.

Begin hiking up a steady incline through dense shrubbery. The trail levels off and then splits into two trails at 1 mile. Either direction leads to the lake in a little more than 1 mile."

If you go right at the fork in the trail, you'll get the steps and the steepest part of the trail on the downhill leg. Then if you take the offshoot trail to the right at the bottom, you'll find a private picnic/camping spot on the lake. There are more camping spots on the loop along the lake, but for my money this one is the nicest. Tough climb out for me, but I know some of you won't even be breathing hard.
