Jefferson Park

Jefferson Park Professional Review and Guide

"that Jefferson Park is Oregon’s most outstanding backcountry location. Certainly this alpine wonderland, with its wildflowers, tree islands, small lakes, and drop-dead-gorgeous views of nearby Mt. Jefferson, has few, if any, equals. But if you visit here, do not expect to be alone, because lots of other folks have heard about Jefferson Park as well. To protect this fragile area, the Forest Service requires that you camp only at sites that are designated by wooden posts. If possible, you should time your visit for midweek. The most popular access route is from the west along the Whitewater Trail, but if you don’t mind a bumpy drive, it is much more scenic to come in via the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) from the north."
