Goat Peak

Goat Peak Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Willamette National Forest is home to some of central Oregon’s most scenic wilderness. The Mount Jefferson Wilderness is a popular destination due to the combination of beautiful high meadows, dense forest, alpine lakes, and distinctive mountains. Just south of Oregon’s second-highest peak is littleknown Goat Peak.

The scramble to a notch right below Goat Peak’s summit is full of alpine beauty. The rock is solid, and the views are spectacular. Scramblers who prefer a more vertical experience will enjoy this ascent. Special considerations: The Pamelia Lake area has restricted access due to overuse; contact the ranger station to obtain an entry permit. The final 20 feet to the summit of Goat Peak are exposed and not recommended."
