Green Lakes Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"This popular hike parallels enchanting Fall Creek and leads you to the Green Lakes Basin. You can admire this group of high Cascade lakes and also enjoy views of South Sister and Broken Top.

This boulder-strewn creek is filled with beautiful waterfalls around almost every bend. You’ll follow the wide, dirt path along the banks of the creek through fragrant forest. The trail also affords views of the Newberry Lava Flow. After 4.3 miles you’ll enter the magnificent Green Lakes Basin. Three greenish- colored lakes fill the basin."

"This popular hike parallels enchanting Fall Creek and leads you to the Green Lakes Basin. You can admire this group of high Cascade lakes and also enjoy views of South Sister and Broken Top. This popular route takes you on a tour of the Three Sisters Wilderness along the banks of charming Fall Creek. This boulder-strewn creek is filled with beautiful waterfalls around almost every bend.

You’ll follow the wide, dirt path along the banks of the creek through a fragrant forest. The trail also affords views of the Newberry Lava Flow, which erupted from the southeast side of South Sister—youngest of the Three Sisters volcanoes."

"Green Lakes is one of the most popular hikes in the Three Sisters Wilderness—and for good reason! This classic route has a mostly comfortable incline, easy-to-navigate trails, and ridiculously awesome scenery."

"The Green Lakes/Soda Creek Loop is the pinnacle of Central Oregon trail running—it just doesn’t get much better than this. It’s a spectacular loop run that visits high alpine scenery, mountain lakes, an abundance of wild?owers, crystal-clear running streams, cascading waterfalls, and well-maintained trails.

If it sounds tempting, it is. As you’d expect from the description, it’s also pretty popular, especially among hikers. Crowds or not, though, this loop is a must if you love trail running."

a hard hike. this was my first time doing a hike like this in 7 years and it put me into survival hike mode but I made it! But of course the reward can't be let down. It was an awesome hike, with great views.

An awesome hike through the most beautiful forest, paralleling a crystal clear mountain stream and ending up at beautiful Green Lake. The trail is easy and well used all the way so everybody can make the trip. It's a steady climb over the trip so go easy and enjoy the trip. My Garmin GPS says this is a 10.7 mile hike with a total of 1,300 feet elevation gain.
