This trail is an example of a relatively recent trend - fashioning public trails out of old railroad beds. The first several miles of the trail meander through rural farm country. Apple and pear trees and burgeoning blackberry thickets line the route. The trail follows the north shore of Dorena Lake for five miles, the through more rural countryside as it passes behind the community of Dorena. The route is paved and the pedaling is easy. Mosby Creek Trailhead is located approximately 7 miles east of Cottage Grove.
