Mossy old stumps and moist pockets of skunk cabbage accent the forest of tall firs and alders that envelops this camp on the South Fork Alsea River. Sites are spacious and relaxing. From the bridge at camp, trails head down river 0.5 mile to Alsea Falls. You can extend the hike another mile to Green Peak Falls: Opposite the developed shore, continue downstream from Alsea Falls to McBee Park (a rustic campground), and then hike upstream along Peak Creek to this unexpected waterfall. Green Peak Falls is 50 feet tall and twice as wide.
