Ever wanted to wander off down the railroad tracks? This is your chance. This rail line was destroyed by floods in 2007, and access is allowed all the way through its remote 16-mile canyon. While it’s possible to do the whole thing with a car shuttle—our map shows a point-to-point route from the upper end to the lower—what I’ve described here are two walks starting on each end, each offering an easy tour through history and a chance to watch nature reclaim an area in slow motion.
