Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Bolan Mountain Lookout is a 14 x 14-foot 1953 L-4 style cabin at ground level atop Bolan Mountain. Parking is just below the lookout. It sits atop a high peak with sharp cliffs all around. For safety reasons, it is therefore not suitable for small children or pets. The 30 to 40 steps up to the cabin are steep and uneven; take extreme caution when loading gear in and out. No fires are allowed here at any time.

AROUND YOU Bolan Campground and Lake. Also, the Bolan Lake Trail 1245. Port-Orford cedar root disease is a resource concern in southwest Oregon. The disease can be transported through mud or dirt on vehicles. You must wash you vehicle, including the undercarriage, before you enter National Forest lands. The area around the lookout contains sensitive plants. Plant collecting is not allowed in this location."
