This trail lies at the northern end of what’s called the Gearhart Fen, one of the largest contiguous bogs on the Oregon coast. A hike here provides a snapshot of the temperate rainforest as you wind through bogs, along a stream and into old-growth forest. Visit in springtime late or early in the day to enjoy the frog chorus. Interpretive signs at various points along the trail describe the hydrology and plant and animal life that make up the wetlands ecosystem. The partly paved, partly gravel trail is doable with wheelchairs or strollers.
