This beach route begins in downtown Cannon Beach and heads south past Haystack Rock to the Tolovana Beach Wayside. Views. This classic coastal route packs in fresh Pacific air, a flat sandy beach, a fantastic ocean view, and a chance to view broods of squawking seabirds on 235-foot Haystack Rock. You’ll get a good workout churning on packed sand, with the option of going on a longer route if you’re feeling the need to lay more tracks. Crowds on nice weekends, storm gales with blowing sand, and awesome sand castles are some of the possible encounters on this beach trek. Rest rooms and water are available at the trailhead. (Special considerations: If you plan on running out to Hug Point, be sure to check the tide tables before departing.)
