Bohemia Mountain / Second Saddle Professional Review and Guide
"This is a short (0.8 mile, of which the first 0.5 is the “official” route), fantastically beautiful trail in a fascinating historic area, to the top of a craggy mountain. On a clear day, you can see from Mount Shasta to Mount Hood (about 350 miles), one of the best panoramas of the High Cascades. The drive to the trailhead is also outstanding, if a bit challenging.
While the Bohemia Mountain Trail absolutely qualifies as a “best” day hike, it is far from “easy.” For that reason, the
“official” described route ends at the rocky saddle and vista
point at mile 0.5 (the second of three saddles that the trail passes). Beyond the second saddle, it’s another extremely steep 0.3 mile to the summit, which hikers are encouraged to attempt with the understanding that it is rated by the Forest Service as “most difficult.”"
