Page Springs Recreation Site

Page Springs Recreation Site Professional Review and Guide

"This arid grassland camp sits beneath a basalt rim along the Donner und Blitzen River. Both sunny and tree-shaded sites are available. The camp makes a fine base for visiting its next-door neighbor, Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, where you will find exceptional birding and natural and cultural discoveries. It is equally convenient for exploring Steens Mountain, a fascinating alpine fault-block mountain rising from the desert plain; high-clearance vehicles are needed. Steens’ chiseled canyons reveal superb scenery and seclude the Kiger wild horses. Page Springs is no ugly stepsister, with the sparkling Donner und Blitzen River, prized fishing, its own birdlife, and the rugged, long-distance Desert Trail, which passes through camp."
