The Wildwood Trail makes a delightful hike through the second-growth forest of Forest Park at any time of the year. This hike covers 8.1 miles of this 30.2-mile-long route. To keep the hiker or runner advised of their location, there are mile markers at 0.25- mile intervals along the trail. The Wildwood Trail descends as you leave the Newberry Road Trailhead. At the beginning of the route, the forest is mostly made up of bigleaf maples, but soon western red cedar, Douglas fir, and western hemlock join the mix of timber.
