Cougar Crossing Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This small camp, which sits near the reservoir bridge and an information kiosk on Aufderheide Forest Drive, offers camping at the head of Cougar Reservoir. The sites have graveled parking and are open or partially shaded in a leafy setting dispersed with a few firs. Early in the year the camp is actually on the reservoir. But as the lake water recedes in summer, the camp overlooks the stark reservoir basin and the South Fork McKenzie River. Reservoir recreation— boating, fishing, swimming, and waterskiing—and Terwilliger Hot Springs, a fee area 2.2 miles north of the camp on FR 19, fill out campers’ itineraries."
