This camp is housed in a mature forest of lodgepole and ponderosa pines along South Twin Lake, a picturesque circular body of water cupped by forest. Its fortresslike ring of trees differentiates it from North Twin Lake, where a grassy shore holds back the trees. A mile-long trail links the two lakes. Activities at South Twin include fishing, nonmotorized boating, and swimming. For additional fishing and boating, across FR 4260 from the camp is a boat launch on the Deschutes River Channel (10 miles per hour maximum). A neighboring resort puts a cup of espresso just strides from the camp.
