This loop is a mix of challenging climbs and exhilarating descents. The trip begins on the new Tumalo Ridge Trail. An old logging road links Tumalo Ridge Trail with Swede Ridge Shelter. The Swede Ridge Trails works its way over to another shelter at Swampy Lakes. You will then find some stiff climbs and good descents. Some climbing brings you to some exhilarating downhill stretches. The trailhead is about 12 miles west of downtown Bend.
