Larry Chitwood Trail

Larry Chitwood Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Badlands Wilderness consists of more than 29,000 acres of land just to the east of Bend on US 20. Known as a shield volcano, the land exempli?es desolate High Desert beauty, ?lled with sagebrush, lava rock, and—you guessed it—a whole lot of sand.

Though the southern trail network can get busy on the weekends, the northern trails o? of Dodds Road see considerably less tra?c. Lacking the impressive rock formations in the southern Badlands, the Larry Chitwood Trail is less scenic but still worth checking out—especially if you’re in need of a quick trail run from town but you want to avoid the crowds."
