House Rock Falls Professional Review and Guide
"It may not be the easiest cascade to get a good view of. However, House Rock Falls does offer you the chance to hike along the historic Santiam Wagon Road, stroll through lush old-growth forest, access an exquisite creek with numerous swimming holes, and visit the house-size boulder that once shielded pioneer families from angry weather.
Constructed in 1866–67, the Santiam Wagon Road connected the cattle towns of the Willamette Valley with the gold-mining towns of eastern Oregon. Replaced by the road you’ll use to get there, US 20, the old wagon road passed into obscurity. Now, sections of the original Santiam Wagon Road have been reborn as trails. Pass the locked gate, and begin your walk along part of Oregon’s history."
