Cultus Lake Loop Professional Review and Guide
"After completing this ride around Cultus Lake, you will feel like your trip to this corner of the forest has been well rewarded. This loop is reason enough to plan a trip to this neck of the woods. Most of the ride is on single-track. The first section, Deer Lake Trail, take you past Little Cultus Lake, then around the west flank of Cultus Mountain to Deer Lake. The trail here is suburb, with a smooth tread and some sweet, mild descents through the woods. There is a nice beach at primitive West Cultus Lake Campground; it's a great spot for a break. The view across the lake is nice, especially to the southeast, where Cultus Mountain rises from the water's edge. The trailhead is approximately 40 miles southwest of Bend and about 30 miles northwest of La Pine."

As of June 25, 2008, this loop is not rideable. The Forest Service has not cleared the windfalls (blowdown trees) yet. We rode this trail last year in July...it was alot of fun, bring bug repellant, though.
This ride is easy and fun. My wife and I rode it on a no suspension tandem with very little difficulty. The trail has only one or two steep grades and very few technically difficult sections. The lake and forest scenery is beautiful.
