This ride is suitable for strong beginners. Eleven miles of mellow, single-track cycling on Shoreline Trail highlight the trip. The trail runs along the lakeshore contours and offers views of Elkhorn Crest and of boats bobbing on the water. A couple of rocky and sandy sections help keep the trail interesting. There are three miles of pedaling on paved and dirt roads in good condition. A downside to the loop is a two-mile stretch on OR 7. The trailhead is approximately 20 miles southwest of Baker City.
