This star in the portfolio of BLM campgrounds occupies a gentle, forested slope above Hyatt Lake, a popular boating and fishing reservoir. Mount McLoughlin looms to the north. Ospreys sometimes can be seen diving for fish. The sites are mostly shaded by Douglas and grand firs. The Pacific Crest Trail passes through the area not far from camp.
