Willoughby Hills, Ohio

Girdled Road Reservation Loop Trails Professional Review and Guide

"Wooden stairs and steep climbs greet you early on along the 0.68-mile Chickadee Trail with hemlocks lining the trail to the approximately 4-mile Oak Leaf Loop Trail— a relatively flat hike alongside Big Creek until the Green Darner Trail. The latter is a short 0.3-mile loop around a man-made wetland leading back to the second half of Oak Leaf.

You’ll backtrack the Chickadee Trail in the end where you can either finish early or add on the Valley View Overlook or 1.2-mile Surveyor’s Woods Loop Trail near where the first surveyors of Girdled Road set up camp in 1798. This is the largest park in the Lake Metroparks system, protecting 935 acres of pristine habitat."
