Sharon Woods Metro Park Professional Review and Guide
"Old-growth oaks and beech trees stand tall among the mixed deciduous forest, shading the Edward S. Thomas Trail in the park’s southwestern quarter. The selected side route, the Oak Openings Trail, features remnants of old fields still evident in the forest. A wooden boardwalk leads out to an observation deck overlooking a field covered with tall vegetation during midsummer. The hike ends at a fishing lake where you can watch the largemouth bass swimming along the dock."
