Hocking Hills State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This park has a 17-acre lake, a swimming pool outside of a dining lodge, and an archery range with five static targets and twenty-two 3-D ones. There are some interesting nature programs held seasonally, too. But the one thing that stands out most is Hocking Hills’ wondrous landscape. This 2,356-acre park has some of the most spectacular geological formations to be found anywhere in Ohio. Towering cliffs, waterfalls, deep, hemlock-shaded gorges, and caves make this an absolute must-see park. All are leftovers from when a warm, shallow sea covered this area. As all of that water lifted some rocks and eroded, it washed away softer, looser stone and left behind mazes of Blackhand Sandstone."
