This is Ohio’s largest state park, and a big one it is, taking in 17,229 acres. Fittingly, there’s no end to what you can do here. There are large-scale hiking opportunities with fourteen footpaths, most of them clustered around the campground so you can leave after breakfast and be back by lunch. Bridle and snowmobile trails make it easy to explore other areas. A large part of this park is open to hunting and—given that it features habitats from big woods to meadows and fields—you can chase everything from rabbits and turkeys to deer and squirrels. The park’s 2,952-acre lake, meanwhile, has areas open to skiing and tubing as well as many quieter coves.
