Forked Run State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"No settled pastoral farm country this, the area around Forked Run State Park on the West Virginia border is steep, hilly, and wild. You’re as likely to see white-tailed deer, wild turkeys or perhaps even a black bear here as anywhere. This is, after all, where raiding Native Americans came to shake their pursuers and where the landscape as much as the local militia stymied Confederate raiders seeking to escape into western Virginia during the Civil War."
