This popular route takes you from Hueston Woods State Park over rural roads and through serene countryside to Harshman Covered Bridge and then back in time by means of an old Native American legend. The rolling hills around Four Mile Creek, which the covered bridge traverses, jazz up the route. ana sign to the left and a welcome to ohio sign on the right. They tell a folklore story about the Native Americans in the Four Mile Creek valley near the Harshman Covered Bridge. Indians remained in that creek valley longer than in any other part of Preble County. A few families of Delawares camped there as late as 1815, giving this part of the Four Mile Creek valley the setting for the legend of Talawanda, a beautiful Native American maiden (many things in the area are named after this maiden).
