Stonelick State Park Professional Review and Guide
"This picturesque park is another of those in Ohio that is well known for the fossils it gives up. People have been coming here since the 1800s to search for and find the stone imprints of ancient plants and sea animals. A talk to the folks in the park office can give you tips on where to start your search. Be sure to pay some attention to the forest here, too. In most places, sweet gum trees are a subordinate species, filling gaps in the woods not already taken, but never predominating on their own. That’s not the case here. The park is home to a significant stand of sweet gums that—together with beech and maples—hold sway among other trees."
