This is Wayne National Forest’s newest trail system. It has 12 miles of trails through some of the forest’s steeper, more rugged terrain. That’s not to say it’s wilderness; riders will pass through fields, brushland, mature forest, and regenerating forest, much of that the result of man’s activities. But these are also some of the most striking landscapes in Ohio. Opportunities to see wildlife are plentiful, given all those merging habitats, so keep your eyes open for deer, coyotes, foxes, and perhaps even a black bear. A few have moved into Ohio in recent years, so maybe you’ll get a glimpse of one. You might also see some other trail users. Though designed with horseback riders in mind, the trails are open to hikers and mountain bikers, too.
