Far Ridge Loop

Far Ridge Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If you like ups and downs, this hike is for you. Start up high, at the Cincinnati Nature Center’s hilltop visitor building. Visit Powel Crosley Lake. From that impoundment, drop to East Branch Avey’s Run and find a waterfall. Follow the creek downstream and a few rock hops later reach the wide flat along Avey’s Run. But you climb back toward the visitor center on the aptly named Wildflower Trail. Old-growth trees tower over this path, which takes you back down to Avey’s Run. This time, rock-hop Avey’s Run and climb again, now on the Far Ridge Trail.

Wander in solitude through backwoods before dropping to Avey’s Run once again. Climb a breathtaking set of steps to make interesting Fox Rock on the Geology Trail. One more descent leads to East Branch Avey’s Run. A final climb returns you to the trailhead and a deserved rest."
