The scenic Chagrin River flows through the eastern edge of South Chagrin Reservation alongside hemlocks, beeches, oaks, and hickories that make for brilliant fall colors. Become better acquainted with the powerful river as you hike along Squaw Rock Loop Trail on the banks of the Chagrin River, home of an intricate sculpture that leaves much to interpretation.
South Chagrin Reservation faces similar marking challenges as its relative to the north (Hike 14). But like North Chagrin, the fun you’ll have on the trails themselves makes up for any difficulty you may have in tracking your hike. Spread across Bentleyville, Solon, and Moreland Hills, South Chagrin Reservation features a wide range of trails, rich spring wildflowers, and of course the crown jewel, the Chagrin River—designated a Scenic River in July 1979.
