Scioto Trail State Park Professional Review and Guide
"This park is surrounded by the 9,390-acre Scioto Trail State Forest, which was named for the Native American trail that ran from Chillicothe to Portsmouth. It’s a great place to escape and take in some spectacular scenery. There are 12 miles of trails meant for hikers, bikers, and/or equestrians. All at least moderately difficult, they lead to a number of overlooks and vistas of Stoney Creek and the Scioto River Valley. The woods here are very pretty in spring when full of flowering dogwood and redbud trees, and wildflowers such as Dutchman’s breeches and wild blue phlox."
