Rocky Fork State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Col. Walter Hutchins was a visionary. Where other people built mills along Rocky Fork Creek and even dreamed of building a town centered on a railroad depot, he saw the area as a natural paradise. He was one of the first to push for building a lake and park here. That dream came true in 1953 when the first water poured over the dam to make Rocky Fork Lake. Today, people travel from all over to explore Rocky Fork’s gorge—it’s home to some fascinating caves and numerous wildflowers, including the very rare Sullivantia—and fish, swim, and boat on the 2,080-acre lake."
