Indian Lake State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"People have been coming to Indian Lake for a long time. At the start of the twentieth century it was a resort known as the “Midwest’s Million Dollar Playground.” Today it’s still very popular, with the huge waterway that is Indian Lake still the draw. It covers 5,800 acres, meaning there are more than 7 acres of water for every one acre of land at the park. Campers and day users come to water ski, fish, and swim. That latter activity can be done at the park’s two public beaches and at three areas where you can swim off your boat: at Walnut Islands, Red Oak Island, and Oldfield Beach."
