Kelleys Island State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Literally located on an island in Lake Erie, Kelleys Island is one of the most interesting parks you may ever find. It’s home to a couple of natural features unlike anything else you’ll find in Ohio. There are two nature preserves, the North Shore and the North Pond. The former features low cliffs, limestone shelves, and thin soil that, while incapable of growing many trees, does support prairie grasses and rare plants including northern bog violet, lakeside daisy, balsam squaw weed, and Pringle’s aster. The latter is a 30-acre marsh and swamp forest. It is one of the few natural, high-quality marshes left in all of the Great Lakes."
