Rentschler Forest Hike

Rentschler Forest Hike Professional Review and Guide

"This Butler County park offers you a chance to hike along the historic Miami-Erie Canal, which once connected the Ohio River to Lake Erie, and also to see some waterfalls. The 400-acre preserve offers a half-mile frontage along the Great Miami River as well as nearly 6 miles of hiking divided over five trails.

This hike takes the Pumpkin Vine Trail through woodland, passing relics of former dwellings before descending to reach the historic canal. Parallel the canal awhile then return to the trailhead. Next, pick up the Cascades Trail. It takes you along a rocky stream that drops steeply toward the Great Miami River, passing a couple of waterfalls and other rocky shoals."
