Lakeview Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"There are plenty of options for hiking around Burr Oak Lake, since some 50 miles of trail exist here where state park meets national forest. Hikes vary from short to long day hikes as well as an 18-mile backpack trail. Although it’s part of the Columbus Metro Park system, Clear Creek is located in the
Hocking Hills region, 30 miles southeast of the I–270 outerbelt. The Metro Parks made a good choice by going a little farther afield to purchase this special land in 1996.

Unlike the more urban parks, Clear Creek is arguably underutilized and has a well-maintained system of 10-plus miles of hiking trails. More trails are planned. Geologists believe that the Wisconsinan Glacier terminated its advance in today’s Clear Creek Valley some 20,000 years ago. Clear Creek is now the central feature of the valley and the park."

This is one of the nicest Metro Parks in Central/Southeast Ohio. Close to the Columbus, OH, area. Trails are well maintained, marked, and they give you a great variety in difficulty. Beautiful valleys, trees, and as the name of the creek "Clear Creek" is surely up to its name. What a gem so close to home. Exercise, beautiful picnic shelter, running water in the rest rooms for the trails at the west end of the park. Be sure to take at least half a day to enjoy the trails.
