Iron Springs to North Ravine Trail, Garfield Park Reservation

Iron Springs to North Ravine Trail, Garfield Park Reservation Professional Review and Guide

"From Garfield Park Nature Center, this hike offers a peek into the Cleveland of yesteryear with about a mile of the hike on a former trolley route that connected Garfield Heights to Cleveland in the earlier part of the 19th century. To get here, you’ll wind your way through beautiful forested, grassy, and all-purpose trails alongside a calm yet scenic stream.

This is perhaps one of Cleveland Metroparks’ easiest yet most important hikes. Either before or after your hike, it’s worth peeking into Garfield Park Nature Center for some historical context. You’ll spend a majority of today’s hike on the Iron Springs Loop Trail—1.2 miles of paved, yet gritty trail. What makes this trail significant is that it follows portions of an old trolley route that used to connect the area to Downtown
Cleveland. At first you might be confused as to whether or not you’re really supposed to be hiking on paved trail."
